What's New in Iceberg REST Catalog

New features and functional updates for Cloudera Iceberg REST Catalog are introduced in Cloudera Runtime 7.3.2, its service packs, and cumulative hotfixes.

Cloudera Runtime 7.3.2.20000 SP2:

On-premises Data Sharing with Cloudera Iceberg REST Catalog on Ozone
Starting with Cloudera Runtime 7.3.2.20000, you can share Iceberg tables stored on Cloudera Object Store (powered by Apache Ozone) in Cloudera on premises environments. Setup uses the Hive Metastore embedded Cloudera Iceberg REST Catalog, Metering V2, Knox IDBroker, Ozone STS, and Knox topologies cdp-share-management (external client administration) and cdp-datashare-access (OAuth and Iceberg REST access for data consumers).
External clients register through Knox and Ranger. The REST Catalog vends temporary Ozone S3 credentials through the S3 Gateway so compliant engines can read shared table data. Iceberg tables whose storage locations use s3a:// paths are shareable; tables registered with ofs:// locations only cannot be shared with vended credentials.
