Installing Navigator Encrypt using Cloudera Manager

Review the prerequisites and learn how to install Navigator Encrypt using Cloudera Manager.

  • Ranger KMS must be installed and running.
  • Navigator Encrypt RPM files must not be installed.
  1. In Cloudera Manager, select the Add Service option from the Actions drop-down menu for your cluster.
    The Add Service to Cluster wizard appears.
  2. Select NavEncrypt, and click Continue.

    The Assign Roles page appears.

  3. Select hosts, and click OK.
  4. Click Continue.
    The Review Changes page appears.
  5. Enter the following details, and click Continue:
    Property name Description
    Master Password Set a master password. The password must be between 15 to 32 characters.
    Ranger KMS Host The host where Ranger KMS is running.
    The installation process starts and displays its progress.
  6. After the installation process completes, click Continue.
  7. Click Finish.
    Navigator Encrypt is installed, and you can view it under Cloudera Manager > Cluster.
  8. Click the Actions option beside Navigator Encrypt service, and click Start.
    The Start wizard displays the progress.

    The start process initiates the Navigator Encrypt Mount service, Navigator Encrypt Health Monitor, along with Navigator Encrypt.

  9. After the start process completes, click Close.
