Configuring HDFS RPC protection

Set the hadoop.rpc.protection property to authentication in both the clusters between which you want to run distcp. You can modify the property either in hdfs-site.xml, or using Cloudera Manager.

This procedure explains how you can configure the hadoop.rpc.protection property using Cloudera Manager. You must perform the procedure on both the clusters.
  1. Sign in to Cloudera Manager.
  2. In the left navigation menu, navigate to Clusters > CORE_SETTINGS-1.
  3. Select the Configuration tab.
  4. In the search field, enter Hadoop RPC Protection and locate the Hadoop RPC Protection property.
  5. Select the authentication radio button.
  6. Enter a description in the Reason for Change text box and then click Save Changes.
