Understanding the Cloudera Data Services on premises upgrade process using OpenShift Container Platform
Upgrading Cloudera Data Services on premises requires coordinating updates with the corresponding OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) version upgrades.
All upgrades to Cloudera Data Services on premises 1.5.5 SP2 must use a minimum version of OpenShift Container Platform 4.16. Intermediate OpenShift Container Platform versions are tested with existing workloads, but Cloudera recommends selecting a supported pvc-ocp version for a given Cloudera Data Services on premises release based on the Cloudera Support Matrix.
Upgrading Cloudera Data Services on premises 1.5.4 SP2 to 1.5.5 SP2
Starting point: Cloudera Data Services on premises 1.5.4 SP2 on OpenShift Container Platform 4.18
- Update Cloudera Data Services on premises from 1.5.4 SP2 to 1.5.5 SP2
- Perform post-upgrade validations of existing resources and workloads.
- Upgrade OpenShift Container Platform from 4.18 to 4.19.
- Upgrade new and existing resources as required.
- Perform validations on all data services to verify that the new and preexisting data and workloads continue to function properly.
Upgrading Cloudera Data Services on premises 1.5.4 to 1.5.5 SP1
Starting point: Cloudera Data Services on premises 1.5.4 CHF1 or 1.5.4 CHF3 on OpenShift Container Platform 4.14 and Cloudera Data Services on premises 1.5.4 SP1 or SP2 on OpenShift Container Platform 4.16.
- Update Cloudera Data Services on premises from 1.5.4 to 1.5.5 SP1.
- Perform post-upgrade validations of existing resources and workloads.
- Upgrade OpenShift Container Platform from 4.14 or 4.16 to 4.18.
- Upgrade new and existing resources as required.
- Perform validations on all data services to verify that the new and preexisting data and workloads continue to function properly.
