Required User Management roles

To manage or subscribe to Notification service in Cloudera Data Engineering, you must be assigned specific roles within the User Management System in the Cloudera Management Console.

An administrator must assign the following roles in the Cloudera Management Console:

  • NotificationSubscriber: Grants permission to manage individual resource subscriptions, create self-subscriptions, and view notification resources for assigned Cloudera Data Engineering Services and Virtual Clusters.
  • DistributionListAdmin: Grants permission to create, view, modify, and delete managed group distribution lists for notification delivery.

Perform the following steps to assign a role for a user or group in the Cloudera Management Console:

  1. In the Cloudera console, click the Management Console tile. The Cloudera Management Console Dashboard page displays.
  2. Click User Management in the left navigation. The User Management page displays.
  3. Click Users if you want to assign the roles for an individual user or click Groups if you want to assign the roles for a user group.
  4. In the Name column, click the user or group name for which you want to assign the role.
  5. Click Roles > Update Roles. The Update Roles dialog box displays.
  6. Select the checkbox for the roles that you want to assign.
  7. Click Update.
