Create custom base images as an alternative to using default images.
Data Hub provides a set of default images and allows you to create, register, and use custom images. Default images are available for each supported cloud provider and region. The following table lists the default images available:
|Cloud provider||Operating system||Image type||Description|
|AWS||CentOS 7||Prewarmed||Include Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Runtime packages.|
|AWS||CentOS 7||Base||Do not include Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Runtime packages.|
The prewarmed images include Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Runtime packages.
The base images do not include Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Runtime packages.
Since these default images may not fit the requirements of some users (for example when user requirements include custom OS hardening, custom libraries, custom tooling, and so on), you can use your own custom images. These custom images must be base images; That is, they should not include Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Runtime packages.
To sum up, the following options are available for each cloud provider:
|Option||Image type||Operating system|
|Custom images||Base||CentOS 7|
In order to use your own custom base images you must:
- Build your custom image(s).
- Prepare the custom image catalog JSON file and save it in a location accessible to the Management Console.
- Register your custom image catalog as a shared resource in the Management Console.
- Once your image catalog has been registered, you can select a custom image when creating clusters.
