Log inspection

Review control plane, node agent, proxy, and Cloudera Data Warehouse server logs to verify Istio service mesh operations, trace communication flows, and diagnose active issues.

To inspect logs for various components of the Istio service mesh and Cloudera Data Warehouse, use the following commands:

• Control Plane (istiod):

  
  kubectl logs -n istio-system -l app=istiod --tail=100 -f
          

• Node Proxy (ztunnel - ambient L4):

  
  kubectl logs -n istio-system <ztunnel-pod> --tail=100
          

• Waypoint Proxy (ambient L7):

  
  kubectl logs -n <vw-namespace> -l gateway.networking.k8s.io/gateway-name=waypoint-proxy --tail=100
          

• Sidecar Proxy (istio-proxy):

  
  kubectl logs -n <vw-namespace> <pod> -c istio-proxy --tail=100
          

• Cloudera Data Warehouse server logic:

  
  kubectl logs -n <cdp-namespace> -l app=cdp-release-dwx-server --tail=100 | grep -i istio
