Configuring load balancer for Impala proxy

Configure load balancer for Impala proxy in Cloudera Data Warehouse to distribute sessions based on CPU and memory utilization.

The Impala proxy directs new session requests to the coordinator with the minimum calculated load, preventing connection imbalances and performance bottlenecks. You can customize the load calculation to prioritize CPU or memory headroom.

  1. Log in to the Cloudera web interface, and go to the Cloudera Data Warehouse service.
  2. On the Overview page, go to the Virtual Warehouses tab.
  3. Identify the Impala Virtual Warehouse that you want to configure, and click the Edit icon.
  4. On the Virtual Warehouse details page, go to Configurations > Impala Proxy.
  5. Select env from the Configuration files drop-down list.
  6. Modify the values for the following parameters as required:
    • IMPALA_PROXY_COORDINATOR_LOAD_CPU_WEIGHT - Specifies the weight applied to the current percentage of CPU utilization when calculating the load of the coordinator.
    • IMPALA_PROXY_COORDINATOR_LOAD_MEMORY_WEIGHT - Specifies the weight applied to the current percentage of memory utilization when calculating the load of the coordinator.
