Updating Intermediate Results Cache for an existing Impala Virtual Warehouse

You can update or disable the Intermediate Results Cache configuration on an existing Impala Virtual Warehouse without re-creating the warehouse.

You must have the DWAdmin role for the target environment.

  1. Log in to the Cloudera Data Warehouse console.
  2. Click the Virtual Warehouses tab.
  3. Locate your Impala Virtual Warehouse, click the action menu () in its row, and select Details.
  4. In the Virtual Warehouse Details pane, click the Sizing and Scaling tab.
  5. Modify the intermediate result caching options as needed:
    1. To enable caching, select the Intermediate Results Cache checkbox and specify a value in Intermediate Results Cache Size (GiB).

If the value is not specified, the default size of 20 GiB is applied. Configured values must be greater than 0 and cannot exceed 50% of the data cache; invalid values are rejected during validation.

    2. To change cache size, enter a new value in the Intermediate Results Cache Size (GiB) field.
    3. To disable caching, clear the Intermediate Results Cache checkbox.
  6. Click Apply Changes.
Saving these changes automatically updates the settings and restarts the Virtual Warehouse to apply them.
