Upgrading CDH and Managed Services
Cloudera Manager 5 supports clusters running CDH 4 and CDH 5. To ensure the highest level of functionality and stability, consider upgrading to the most recent version of CDH.
If you have a Cloudera Enterprise license and are running HDFS high availability, you can perform a rolling upgrade that lets you avoid cluster downtime.
You can upgrade CDH and other managed services from within the Cloudera Manager Admin Console using parcels via an upgrade wizard. See Parcels for a general description of the upgrade process using parcels. Upgrading using packages is primarily a manual process. For an easier upgrade in the future, consider switching from packages to parcels so Cloudera Manager can automate more of the process.
See the following topics for details on upgrading to the latest versions of CDH 4 or CDH 5.
