Disabling automatic inheritance of ACLs

When a file is created, the NameNode applies default ACLs from the parent directory to the create mode and ignores the client umask. You can use Cloudera Manager to disable this default behavior.

1. In the Cloudera Manager Admin Console, select Clusters > <HDFS Cluster>.
2. Click the Configuration tab.
3. Search for NameNode Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) for hdfs-site.xml.
4. Add a new entry for disabling ACL inheritance by default.

   1. Name: dfs.namenode.posix.acl.inheritance.enabled

      Value: false

5. Enter a Reason for change, and then click Save Changes to commit the changes.
6. Restart all the NameNodes.
