What's New in Apache Atlas

Learn about the new features of Apache Atlas in Cloudera Runtime 7.3.1, its service packs and cumulative hotfixes.

Cloudera Runtime 7.3.1.1100 SP3 CHF 6

Faster Atlas entity detail for large relationship graphs
The first load of an entity detail page omits large embedded relationship payloads so the page opens faster. On the Relationships tab, you can switch between Table mode (a card per relationship type with counts, sort, optional deleted relationships, and paged loads as you scroll) and Graph mode. The relationship search API supports pagination, optional sorting, and more reliable counts for very large graphs. Together, these changes address cases such as Apache Ozone buckets or wide Hive tables where the detail view previously failed to show Properties, Classifications, Relationships, or Audits because the response was too large.

Classification Statistics label change
The label for the list of classifications assigned to entities and the number of entities marked with those classification is changed from Count to Associated Entities.

Cloudera Runtime 7.3.1.500 SP3

Improved Atlas metrics API performance
The performance of Atlas API service metrics is significantly enhanced by making detailed entity type counts optional. For large Atlas deployments with many entity types, API response times are now much faster by default, while still allowing users to request the complete metrics when needed for detailed analysis.
Key changes:
  • Enhanced the MetricsService.getMetrics method to accept an excludeTypeAndSubTypeEntity boolean parameter, allowing callers to exclude metrics for entity types and their subtypes.
  • Updated logic to conditionally calculate and include metrics for entity types and subtypes only when requested.

Generic ignore patterns
Configuration snippets for both Apache Atlas server side and hook side metadata ignore patterns are introduced. You can use these limit the incoming amount of metadata notifications and messages to reduce data clutter and resource consumption.
