The Cloudera Semantic Search component is upgraded from 2.18.0 to 3.6.0. This release incorporates upstream improvements that deliver enhanced performance, improved stability, and expanded functionality for search workloads.

JDK 21 bundled with Cloudera Semantic Search parcel

OpenSearch 3.x requires JDK 21, while Cloudera Runtime uses JDK 17. To address this requirement, JDK 21 is bundled directly inside the Cloudera Semantic Search parcel and is used exclusively by the OpenSearch process. This approach ensures compatibility with OpenSearch 3.x without affecting the Cloudera Runtime Java environment.

Document-Level Security for Cloudera Semantic Search

You can now restrict access to specific documents within an OpenSearch index based on user roles defined in Apache Ranger. Document-Level Security (DLS) enables administrators to enforce fine-grained access control that goes beyond index-level permissions, ensuring that users can view only the documents they are authorized to access.
