Setting the area display mode
For an Areas visual with a field on the Colors shelf, the Display areas unstacked setting controls how the series appear.
- Checkbox cleared (default):
- Display areas are stacked on top of one another. The Y-axis shows their cumulative total, helping you see how each series contributes to the whole.
- Checkbox selected:
- Display areas are unstacked. Each area starts from the same zero baseline and overlaps other areas with a semi-transparent fill. The Y-axis and tooltips show each series’ individual values, helping you compare values and trends on the same scale.
To enable unstacked mode, open and select Display areas unstacked in the Visual Builder. Clear the checkbox to return to the stacked display.
