Change password screen shown on page refresh for autologin user
If an unauthenticated/autologin user accesses a public workspace dashboard on an Incognito tab and then refreshes or tries to reload the page, it can unexpectedly trigger the display of the Change Password modal.
Workaround:
To resolve this issue, change the autologin user's password once using the Change Password modal. After changing the password, the issue should no longer occur and the autologin functionality will work as expected.

AI visual may fail with connection already closed after long uptime

In long-running Cloudera Data Visualization instances, the AI visual can sometimes fail with a connection already closed error due to stale database connections in background threads. This requires a service restart to recover and interrupts long-running AI visual usage.

Workaround:

Restart the Cloudera Data Visualization service if the error occurs.

Default user groups persist after SAML and VIZ group sync

When users log in, default user groups are not removed during SAML and VIZ group synchronization. As a result, users retain their previous group associations, roles, permissions, and query history across sessions.

Workaround:

An admin user should manually assign the “Database Admin” role to a SAML-synced group.

Action dropdown not fully visible in the Visuals page table view

If fewer than two dashboards or applications are displayed in a Workspace on the Visuals page, the action dropdown in the table view will not be fully visible.

Data compatibility check does not work for SQL-based datasets that join on multiple tables

When importing in visual artifacts that use SQL-based datasets, the “data compatibility” check may fail with an “IndexError: list index out of range” error, if the dataset joins multiple tables.

Unnecessary replacements of datasets and cloned dashboards during import

When importing a cloned dashboard, it is always marked for replacement in the target system, even if no changes were made there. The same behavior occurs with datasets, which are also flagged as needing replacement regardless of actual changes.

Workaround:

For cloned dashboards, set the parent_report_id property to null in the exported JSON file.

For datasets, replace the version_name with the same version_name in the target system.

PDF download options missing or causing errors in dashboards

You may experience issues with PDF export options in dashboards, which can impact your ability to export reports as intended.

The following options are missing from the Download as > PDF dropdown or may cause errors when selected:
  • Current sheet
  • One sheet per page
  • One visual per page on current sheet

When these options do appear (for example, in the app or email export modal), selecting One sheet per page or One visual per page on current sheet may result in an error. Due to these issues, the system defaults to exporting only the current sheet as a PDF, without the ability to change the setting.

Importing reports from version 8.0.2 may fail due to a missing annotation field

In version 8.0.2 of Cloudera Data Visualization, an annotation field was introduced in the Reports model, which was later removed. In product versions before 8.0.5, importing reports created in 8.0.2 may fail because the system does not properly handle the missing annotation field during import.

Queries on databases with numeric names fail in Trino

When querying databases in Trino whose names begin with numbers, queries fail with a syntax error.

Workaround:

Escape the database name in the query.

Visual and dashboard downloads fail with special characters in titles

Downloading visuals or dashboards with titles containing special characters, spaces, or non-Latin scripts can produce files (PNG, PDF, CSV, Excel) with missing or invalid extensions. This can prevent files from opening in other applications.

Workaround:

Rename the visual or dashboard to remove special characters before downloading.

Cloudera AI login fails if required user groups are missing

You can encounter server errors (HTTP 500) and be unable to log in to Cloudera Data Visualization if required Cloudera AI user groups are not automatically created. This issue can prevent access until groups are manually created.

Workaround:

Manually create the required Cloudera AIuser groups with the name “vizcml-rw” and “vizcml-ro” as the vizapps_admin user before logging in using SSO.

Upgrade failures when migrating from 7.2.6 to 7.2.9 and higher

Upgrading Cloudera Data Visualization directly from version 7.2.6 to 7.2.9 or higher can result in a broken database due to a migration issue in the datasets application. This affects both standalone and embedded Data tab deployments, potentially causing upgrade failures or application errors.

Workaround:

Perform a multi-step upgrade through an intermediate version lower than 7.2.9 to avoid the migration issue. On the Data tab, pin the versions using the EMBEDDED_CDV_IMAGE environment variable to pin the application to a specific runtime Docker image. For applications already impacted, run the following script: https://github.com/cloudera/Cloudera-TSB/tree/main/TSB-907

Misapplied selections in dropdown filters with duplicate values

When the same value appears in multiple dropdown filters on a dashboard, selecting a value by clicking on the label in one filter may incorrectly apply the selection to a different filter. This behavior can lead to confusion and inaccurate filter configurations.

Workaround:

Select values using the checkbox instead of clicking the label when multiple dropdown filters contain the same value.
