- AI visual may fail with connection already closed after long uptime
-
In long-running Cloudera Data Visualization instances, the AI visual can sometimes fail with a connection already closed error due to stale database connections in background threads. This requires a service restart to recover and interrupts long-running AI visual usage.
- Workaround:
-
Restart the Cloudera Data Visualization service if the error occurs.

- Data compatibility check does not work for SQL-based datasets that join on multiple tables
-
When importing in visual artifacts that use SQL-based datasets, the “data compatibility” check may fail with an “IndexError: list index out of range” error, if the dataset joins multiple tables.
- Workaround:
-
Disable “Check data table compatibility” when importing in visual assets with complex queries.

- Visual and dashboard downloads fail with special characters in titles
-
Downloading visuals or dashboards with titles containing special characters, spaces, or non-Latin scripts can produce files (PNG, PDF, CSV, Excel) with missing or invalid extensions. This can prevent files from opening in other applications.
- Workaround:
-
Rename the visual or dashboard to remove special characters before downloading.

- Upgrade failures when migrating from 7.2.6 to 7.2.9 and higher
-
Upgrading Cloudera Data Visualization directly from version 7.2.6 to 7.2.9 or higher can result in a broken database due to a migration issue in the datasets application. This affects both standalone and embedded Data tab deployments, potentially causing upgrade failures or application errors.
- Workaround:
-
Perform a multi-step upgrade through an intermediate version lower than 7.2.9 to avoid the migration issue. On the Data tab, pin the versions using the
EMBEDDED_CDV_IMAGE
environment variable to pin the application to a specific runtime Docker image. For applications already impacted, run the following script: https://github.com/cloudera/Cloudera-TSB/tree/main/TSB-907 - Versions affected:
- Cloudera Data Visualization 8.0.6 and lower

- Misapplied selections in dropdown filters with duplicate values
-
When the same value appears in multiple dropdown filters on a dashboard, selecting a value by clicking on the label in one filter may incorrectly apply the selection to a different filter. This behavior can lead to confusion and inaccurate filter configurations.
- Workaround:
-
Select values using the checkbox instead of clicking the label when multiple dropdown filters contain the same value.
