Setting segments

Row-level access control allows you to restrict which data records users can see based on predefined criteria. In Cloudera Data Visualization, row-level access can be implemented by defining dataset segments and associating them with specific users or user groups. These segments define logical subsets of data based on filter conditions and form the foundation for access restrictions.

  1. Identify the filter conditions that define the data you want to restrict.
    These conditions determine how the dataset is divided into segments.
  2. Create segments in the dataset using one of the following methods.
    • Save filters from a visual as a segment, as described in Creating segments from filter definitions.
    • Define segments directly in the Dataset Segments interface, as described in Creating segments.
  3. Verify that the segments were created successfully.
    1. Open the Dataset Segments interface.
    2. Confirm that the newly created segments appear in the list.
