The monitoring feature in Agent Studio uses the Phoenix application to provide observability for workflows.

The Phoenix application is a prerequisite for Agent Studio's monitoring functionality and is deployed as part of the studio setup. Agent Studio requires the Phoenix application to be fully operational before it can begin monitoring workflows.

All workflows, regardless of whether they are in test mode or fully deployed, are initiated asynchronously, with their traces being sent to Phoenix. Agent Studio retrieves these traces through the Phoenix GraphQL API to display the monitoring data within the studio interface.
