Monitor service metrics using Cloudera Observability

Using Cloudera Observability, you can monitor service metrics across all clusters in Cloudera Observability-enabled environments.

Required role: Administrator

These metrics are displayed as charts that offer insights into:
  • Jobs: Metrics include the number of currently running jobs and CPU or memory usage.
  • Hadoop services: Data such as the average HDFS I/O latency and the number of concurrent jobs.
  • Clusters: Metrics include the average CPU load across all hosts.
These charts help you analyze and track the performance of your jobs, services, and clusters effectively.

Service metrics feature availability

  • The Cloudera Observability service metrics feature requires the Cloudera Observability Premium license tier. To learn more about the Cloudera Observability Premium license tier and to request a demo, see the Cloudera Observability product website.
  • The Cloudera Observability service metrics are available only for Private Cloud Base and Data Hub environments.

Types of metrics

You can monitor the following types of service metrics:
  • Cluster service metrics: View metrics specific to the selected service at the cluster level. You can monitor the performance of the cluster nodes or hosts over time.
  • Query service metrics: View metrics related to query execution specific to the selected service running on your workloads cluster.

You can select up to five metrics to display in graphs.

For information about metrics available for each service, see Cloudera Manager Metrics in Cloudera Manager documentation.
