Stop the Ranger Services
Now that you have prepared your cluster for the Ranger upgrade, you will need to stop the Ranger Admin and Ranger UserSync services. To stop the Ranger services, perform the steps described below.
Stop the Ranger Policy Admin service. When the service is stopped, you will receive an acknowledgement from the server that the service has been stopped.
service ranger-admin stop
Stop the Ranger UserSync service. When the service is stopped, you will receive an acknowledgement from the server that the service has been stopped.
service ranger-usersync stop
Stop the applicable services using the Ranger plugin (HDFS, HBase, Hive, Knox, Storm).
