What's new in Cloudera Data Visualization 8.1.0

Cloudera Data Visualization 8.1.0, released on January 28, 2026 introduces new data connectivity options, expanded AI capabilities, and several usability and administration improvements. Updates focus on improving user experience, strengthening security, and making common workflows easier for both users and administrators.

New features and improvements

Data connectivity and queries
VIZ-3302, VIZ-3481, VIZ-3707, VIZ-3708 – Full support for Trino data connections

Cloudera Data Visualization provides full support for Trino data connections, including connections to Cloudera Data Warehouse Trino virtual warehouses. You can connect to Trino, upload data, run queries, and visualize results using this integration. For more information, see Creating a Cloudera Data Warehouse data connection in Cloudera Data Visualization.

VIZ-3483 – Improved catalog and connection visibility in the Data Model tab

The Data Model and Dataset Detail views make it easier to see where your data is coming from and how tables are joined. Updates include:

  • Connection type icons that help you quickly identify the data source
  • Tooltips that show the full connection, database, and table path when you hover over an icon or name
  • A Show more option in the Table field to display all tables when space is limited
  • Join icons that reflect the currently saved join type
AI
VIZ-3827 – Expanded Anthropic and Amazon Bedrock model support

Cloudera Data Visualization supports additional Anthropic and Amazon Bedrock models for AI-powered features, including new Anthropic completion models and the Cohere Embed v4 embeddings model.

Newly supported models:

  • Anthropic completion models
    • Claude Sonnet 4.5
    • Claude Opus 4.5
    • Claude Haiku 4.5
  • Cohere embeddings model
    • Cohere Embed 4
Security
VIZ-1442 – Improved secret key management for encrypted settings

Cloudera Data Visualization generates and securely stores secret keys at installation time, and stores them securely in the deployment environment for Cloudera Base on premises and Cloudera AI. This improvescurity and consistency across deployments and ensures that sensitive configuration data, such as data connection passwords, email and JIRA credentials, and AI profile API keys, is properly protected.

Administration and usability
VIZ-1869 – Improved download of Cloudera Data Visualization log files

Administrators can download raw Cloudera Data Visualization log files directly from the Logs and Usage page. The new Download Log Files button opens a modal where you can select one or more log files and download them together as a single ZIP archive. Each file is preserved in its original format, making it easier to share detailed logs for troubleshooting.

VIZ‑3686 – Filter Association modal UI improvements

The Filter Association modal used to configure row‑level access with segments has been improved to provide a more consistent and responsive experience when adding or removing segments, users, and groups. To create filter associations, see Setting filter associations.

VIZ-3660 – Improved custom dates experience

The Custom Dates page has been updated with a modernized UI and usability improvements.

Fixed issues

VIZ-3688 – HTML links in table visuals now render correctly

Fixed an issue where custom expressions that generated HTML anchor tags were shown as raw HTML in table visuals instead of clickable links, even when the Show values starting with http(s):// as links option was enabled. These expressions now render as clickable links as expected.

VIZ-3696 – Last updated by restored on Dataset Detail page

Fixed an issue where the Last updated by field was missing from the Dataset Detail page. You can now see who last modified a dataset.

VIZ-3698 – Trino GROUP BY queries now run correctly
Fixed an issue in the Trino connector where incorrect aggregate detection caused valid ANSI-compliant queries using column positions in GROUP BY clauses (for example, GROUP BY 1) to fail. These queries now run successfully.
VIZ-3701 – AI streaming responses now display fully
Fixed an issue where AI-generated responses in Cloudera Data Visualization visuals could be truncated or incomplete on slower or high-latency network connections. The streaming parser now correctly processes all incoming data, ensuring complete responses are displayed.
VIZ-3709 – Data tab search now works as expected
Fixed an issue where search on the Data page did not work.

Fixed Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures

The following Common Vulnerability and Exposure (CVE) has been fixed in Cloudera Data Visualization 8.1.0.

  • CVE-2025-66034 – fontTools is Vulnerable to Arbitrary File Write and XML injection in fontTools.varLib
