Component Versions
Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) 2.3.6 is the first maintenance release that aligns the 2.3.x core with the 2.4.x core; see New Features for details.
The Hortonworks approach is to provide patches only when necessary, to ensure the interoperability of components. Unless you are explicitly directed by Hortonworks Support to take a patch update, each of the HDP components should remain at the following package version levels, to ensure a certified and supported copy of HDP 2.3.6.
