Supported File Types
To obtain insights into your queries and how to optimize them, you must upload a query workload file to Navigator Optimizer. Ideally, the number of queries in the sample workload file is representative of the workload for which you want to gain insights. Cloudera recommends that you upload at least 100 queries, but no more than 100,000, which is the current upper limit per upload. For more information about what types of files can be consumed by Navigator Optimizer, see the file uploading FAQs.
About Supported File Types
Navigator Optimizer can analyze workloads from the following file types.
|.sql||Files that contain only the full text of SQL queries. You might extract these files from query workloads that are sent to Hadoop or your EDW, or you might extract them from logs. To view a sample .sql workload file, click View on the Upload page of Navigator Optimizer.|
|.hql||Files that contain only the full text of Hive queries. You might extract these files from query workloads sent to Hadoop, or you might extract them from logs.|
Workloads extracted from various sources, such as log files or databases. At a minimum, these files must have a column that contains the full text of queries. You must specify which column contains queries by setting the column type to QUERY FULLTEXT when you upload the file. To view a sample .csv file, click View on the Upload page of Navigator Optimizer.
Important: See How To Format CSV Workload Files for information about formatting your .csv workload files so Navigator Optimizer can process them.
|.tar||Archive files that contain .sql, .hql, or .csv files.|
For information about what types of queries to include in upload files, see Deciding Which Workloads to Analyze.
