Review the prerequisites

Before you start upgrading your clusters, ensure that you meet the prerequisites for each upgrade that is required.

Refer to the following documentation for detailed prerequisites:

  • Review Data Lake Upgrade: Before you begin and Cloudera Data Hub Upgrade: Limitations and Prerequisites.
  • If you are upgrading a Data Lake, use the Backup and Restore functionality. This will allow you to restore the SDX metadata if required.
  • Certain Cloudera Data Hub clusters might require certain pre-upgrade and post-upgrade steps. Review the related documentation before upgrading Cloudera Data Hub clusters.
  • If you are currently using a lower version than PostgreSQL 14 for your databases, upgrade your database to PostgreSQL 14 using the steps in the documentation.
  • Upgrading to Cloudera Runtime 7.3.2 includes the Operating System (OS) upgrade to RHEL 9. In case you are using recipes or have installed additional parcels on top of the Cloudera provided pre-warmed images, you need to ensure that your custom setup and configurations are compatible with the OS and JDK versions that will be in use after the 7.3.2 upgrade. For more information, see Prerequisites before upgrade operating system (OS).
  • Upgrading to Cloudera Runtime 7.3.2 automatically upgrades the JDK version to 17. If your cluster includes custom Java solutions, Cloudera recommends first upgrading the JDK to 17 on Cloudera Runtime 7.3.1, validating your solutions, and then upgrading to 7.3.2. For more information, see Phased JDK upgrade on 7.3.1 before upgrading to 7.3.2.
  • Before upgrading to Cloudera Runtime 7.3.2, verify that your Data Service is compatible with the latest version of Cloudera Runtime. For more information, see the following documentations:
