Creating custom resource templates in CDW Private Cloud

Suppose you have customized the node sizes in your cluster to suit a particular workload. In that case, you can customize the number of hardware resources allocated to the pods to suit your custom-sized node or workload to optimize performance or control resource usage in the environment.

You must have already activated an environment in CDW.
  1. Log in to the Data Warehouse service as a DWAdmin.
  2. Click on the Resource Templates menu on the left navigation pane.
  3. Go to the respective tab for which you want to create a custom resource template. For example, IMPALA.

  4. Click Actions corresponding to the resource template you want to customize and click Make A Copy.
  5. Specify a name for your template in the Name field. Optionally, specify a description and click Make A Copy.
  6. Optional: Select the Set As Default option to make this resource template the default template for all new CDW entities; in this case all new Impala Virtual Warehouses.
  7. Specify or change the values of the subcomponents as needed and click Apply Changes.
    The Config creation initiated message is displayed.
  8. Refresh the page on your browser to view the newly created resource template.
The new pod configuration becomes available in the Resource Template drop-down menu on the CDW entity's details page. To go to the details page, click > Edit.
