Enabling Cloudera Observability Real-time monitoring using Cloudera Manager user interface

Learn how to enable the Cloudera Observability Real-time monitoring feature when the Cloudera Data Hub clusters with versions 7.2.18.100 or Cloudera Data Hub 7.2.18.200 and higher or Private Cloud Base clusters with version 7.3.1.200 (Cloudera Manager 7.13.1.200) and higher are created or upgraded before enabling the necessary entitlement.

Required role

You must have the Cluster Administrator role in Cloudera Manager. Contact Cloudera Support to perform the subsequent steps.

Ensure that you have the necessary Cloudera entitlements from Cloudera to access the Cloudera Observability Real-time monitoring feature.

Watch this video to learn how to enable the Cloudera Observability Real-time monitoring feature using Cloudera Manager for Cloudera Data Hub clusters created or upgraded to version 7.2.18.300 or 7.2.18.400.

  1. Log in to Cloudera Manager and click Administration > Settings.
  2. Search for the Global flag to enable/disable Observability Real-time Jobs Feature property, and enable it.
    The Real-time Jobs Feature property enables the real-time monitoring feature inCloudera Observability.
  3. Search for the Global flag to enable/disable Observability DMP Metrics Collection Feature property, and enable it.
    The DMP Metrics Collection Feature property enables a collection of metrics for services and role instances running on your clusters.
  4. Click Save Changes.
  5. Depending upon the environment, perform one of the step below.
    • Cloudera Data Hub cluster: From the Home > Status tab, click the Actions menu corresponding to the service that you want to restart and select Rolling Restart with the Restart roles with stale configuration only option.
    • Private Cloud Base cluster: From the Home > Status tab, click the Actions menu corresponding to the cluster name and select Refresh Cluster.
