Installing OpenJDK on Cloudera Manager

Prior to installing the Cloudera Manager packages, you must install a JDK for Cloudera Manager on the Cloudera Manager Server host. This section describes how to install OpenJDK on the Cloudera Manager Server host using your package manager. Also, you have the option of installing the Oracle JDK. See Installing Oracle JDK for CDP Runtime documentation for instructions.

If your are using OpenJDK versions 1.8 u242 or 11.0.6 and have enabled Kerberos, you may experience authentication errors when running cluster services. To work around this problem:

Log in to the Cloudera Manager Admin Console.
Go to Administration > Settings.
Select the Advanced category.
Locate the JVM Arguments for Java-based services parameter and enter the following:

-Dsun.security.krb5.disableReferrals=true
```
Restart any stale services.

RHEL Compatible

sudo yum install java-1.8.0-openjdk-devel

SLES

sudo zypper install java-1_8_0-openjdk-devel

Ubuntu
```
sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jdk
```
